A Baguette for Lunch., 2011, oil 26 x 30 inches.
In the Department of Les Deux Sevres is a large village that was an important centre for tanning and weaving in the 15th century. Some houses from that time still remain, and the main street has several little alleyways like this one leading down to the river. It speaks to me because it is narrow and closed on either side by interesting stone walls and mysterious doorways.
