Antoinette's House, 2007, oil 20" x 35".
The house once belonged to a spinster lady called Antoinette. When we bought the house in the 70's after her death, there was no sanitation, and water only from a tap at the gate. Here it is spring, and the bright sun makes wonderful colour on the bark of the ancient tree not yet in leaf. A bird is pursuing a mate, and the shrubs, the house and the light and shade make a rich pattern across the picture plane.
