The Weir, 2010, oil 23 x 31 inches.
The weir at Gourge is very popular for fishing. The old bridge in previous images is behind the mill and across the road. This painting was worked up from drawings and a watercolour made on the spot so, unusually, the figures were actually there and not made up. It is the kind of closed composition I like, with the trees reaching to the top edge and a pattern of light and shade across it.
